A hands-on review of FastCacheX CDN: test methodology, real-world performance, cache hit ratios, pricing analysis, pros and cons based on production usage.

Review: FastCacheX CDN — Performance, Pricing, and Real-World Tests

FastCacheX is a newer CDN entrant promising low latency and developer-friendly tooling. We ran an in-depth evaluation, testing edge response times, cache hit ratios, purge performance, and pricing under realistic workloads.

"FastCacheX feels like a modern CDN built for developer ergonomics, but with trade-offs in edge footprint and advanced routing features."

Test Setup

We configured a representative site with static assets, dynamic API endpoints, and HTML pages. Test locations included North America, Europe, and Asia. The origin was hosted in a cloud region in the US.

Key metrics collected:

  • Median TTFB from each region
  • Edge cache hit ratios after warm-up
  • Purge latency across regions
  • Cost for 10 TB monthly traffic with standard request profile

Performance Results

After caching warmed up, FastCacheX delivered strong median TTFB improvements:

  • North America: 42ms median (origin: 190ms)
  • Europe: 48ms median (origin: 220ms)
  • Asia: 66ms median (origin: 320ms)

Edge hit ratio after warm-up averaged 86% overall. Static assets achieved >98% hit rates while API endpoints averaged ~70% depending on cache control rules.

Purge and Invalidation

FastCacheX supports both URL purge and tag-based purge. Observed purge propagation times averaged 7–12 seconds in North America and Europe but were higher in certain Asian PoPs (up to 35 seconds) due to regional propagation architecture. Tag-based invalidation was efficient and avoided sweeping purges in our tests.

Developer Experience

The dashboard is clean, and the CLI/SDKs made automation simple. Integration with popular build pipelines was straightforward. One notable feature is the preview-testing capability that lets you warm specific edge nodes before a release.

Pricing

Pricing is competitive for typical web traffic patterns. For 10 TB of monthly egress with a mixed regional footprint, our estimate came out roughly 12% cheaper than a major incumbent CDN but more expensive than budget-oriented providers for highly localized traffic.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Excellent TTFB improvements globally.
  • Developer-first tooling and SDKs.
  • Tag-based purging and preview-warming features.

Cons:

  • Edge footprint in some Asian regions is smaller leading to higher variance.
  • Advanced routing features like multi-origin traffic steering are limited compared to established incumbents.
  • Purge propagation can be inconsistent across all PoPs.

Performance Scores

  • Global Latency Reduction: 88
  • Cache Hit Ratio: 86
  • Purge Performance: 72
  • Developer UX: 94

Verdict

FastCacheX is a compelling option for teams that prioritize developer experience and need consistent latency improvements for global audiences. For organizations with strong Asian traffic, validate PoP coverage in target markets before committing, and for use-cases requiring advanced traffic steering or deep WAF features, consider whether the product roadmap aligns with your needs.

Rating: 8.2 / 10

Recommendation: Evaluate FastCacheX with a real-world pilot. Test purge propagation in your target geographies and validate hit ratios for your traffic mix. For startups and teams that value quick iteration and automation, FastCacheX is worth a serious look.
